Pacific Rim Movie
Director Guillermo del Toro was set to direct the movie At The Mountains of Madness, but the studios got cold feet (they're afraid not to recoup the budget with a R-Rated adaptation)... So the Mexican director is now moving on to a new project: Pacific Rim.
It's a PG-13 science-fiction movie based on a script by Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans)) which sees a future Earth defending itself from attacking creatures. The film has already entered pre-production and filming should start in September 2011. Pacific Rim will be released sometime in summer 2013.
Plot:
"Set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace."
From Wikipedia: the Pacific Rim refers to the countries and cities located around the edge of the Pacific Ocean. There are many economic centers around the Pacific Rim, such as Auckland, Busan, Brisbane, Guangzhou, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Kobe, Lima, Los Angeles, Manila, Melbourne, Nagoya, Osaka, Panama City, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, Santiago, Seattle, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei, Tokyo, Vancouver, and Yokohama. So how is the common definition of Pacific Rim related to Guillermo del Toro's movie title? Any idea?
Maybe the attacking creatures come from the center of the Earth, and are behind the seismic activity of the region?
Anyway, more details about the movie Pacific Rim soon!
:)
